Movie review of Taken 3

Taken 3 - 5/10
Directed by Oliver Megaton
Written by Luc Besson, Robert Mark Kamen
Cast - Liam Neeson, Forest Whitaker, Maggie Grace

Plot Summary
Ex-government operative Bryan Mills is accused of a ruthless murder he never committed or witnessed. As he is tracked and pursued, Mills brings out his particular set of skills to find the true killer and clear his name.

Review
I have always enjoyed watching Liam Neeson aka Mr Father Figure's movies. Why I call him that? Well that's because most of his films, his roles have been like a father figure. Now I liked the first Taken,it was fun to watch. Second one was absolute shit. To be honest I wasn't very keen to watch the third one in the cinema. I watched it because there were no other interesting movies.
I have to say Taken 3 is way way much better than no. 2 despite certain flaws. I really hope this is the final one cause the last thing we need is a Taken 7 and Nic Cage is Bryan Mills. Casting was so so. As usual I never liked the daughter aka Maggie Grace. She just can't act and worse tends to overact as well. One thing I got to give it to her is consistency. She has been consistently annoying and fuckall for all THREE movies. If you notice carefully, she has at most 2 expressions throughout the whole movie, crying or frowning. Taken 3 would be much better if the daughter died instead of the mom. Really... it would be great. It was nice to see Forest Whitaker on screen, his role reminded me of another detective role he did in the TV series, The Shield but abit more subdued.
Action sequences are abit slow and rough. I did not like the camera work and editing, it was way too shaky and some of the cuts aren't smooth. There weren't any interesting kills and the fight choreography was alittle dull. Script was boring even the phone call lines sucked

Overall, fans of Liam Neeson will enjoy Taken 3 despite some of its plot holes. At least it is way much better than the second one. Worth watching on a weekday or at most watch it online when it is available.

Quotes
Franck Dotzler: If you go down this road, the LAPD, the FBI, the CIA... they're all gonna come for you. They'll find you. And they'll stop you.

Bryan Mills: Good luck.

Movie review of The Judge

The judge - 5.5/10

Directed by David Dobkin
Written by Nick Schenk, Bill Dubuque
Cast - Robert Downey Jr, Robert Duvall, Vincent Donofrio, Vera Farmiga

Plot Summary
Big city lawyer Hank Palmer returns to his childhood home where his father, the town's judge, is suspected of murder. Hank sets out to discover the truth and, along the way, reconnects with his estranged family.

Review
I watched this movie because of the cast and the father son bonding thing ( I have a soft spot for father son movies). Despite the good cast, the judge was disappointing. There were a few pretty decent actors but sadly they were underutilized Actors like Vincent Donofrio and Vera Farmiga could have had more screen time instead they chose to focus more on Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall. Don't get me wrong though. Both those guys acted well but I felt the movie was let down by the plot holes.
There were just too many things put in and never properly tied up. You have that awkward scene with Vera Farmiga's daughter and Robert Downey Jr and then the retarded younger brother which like i said was never tied up. So you have no idea what happened to them. There were a few teary eyed scenes which were nice but the judge was way too long. 2 hours and 20 mins. How long are you gonna be teary eyed for? I got bored after the first hour and couldn't wait for the movie to end.

Just wait for it to be on cable or you can give this a miss.

Quotes
Hank Palmer: Everyone wants Atticus Finch until there's a dead hooker in a bathtub.

Doc Morris: Wow, this isn't an act, is it? You really aren't a pleasant person.
Hank Palmer: Right now? I'm a summer breeze. Once I subpoena you, get you on the stand and extract the truth from your ass like tree sap THEN you'll realize in THAT moment, correct, I'm not a pleasant person.

Movie review of Horns

Horns - 5/10
Directed by Alexandre Aja
Written by Keith Bunin (screenplay), Joe Hill (novel)
Cast - Daniel Radcliffe, Juno Temple, Heather Graham, David Morse

Plot Summary
In the aftermath of his girlfriend's mysterious death, a young man awakens to strange horns sprouting from his temples.

Review
I think this is the first time I'm watching a movie which Daniel Radcliffe is not harry potter. Got to say this though, his post potter acting is not too bad despite a few hiccups. I did like how he acted in horns but his accent was alittle too forced for me. The rest of the cast had minimal impact in the movie. Veterans like heather graham and David Morse were good but just not enough screen time for them. Script was alright, nothing fantastic. I understand that this was from a book and usually book to movie screen plays doesn't cover everything even important points of the book. I have not read the book so I cant fully judge how the story is.I liked how the movie started. It got a little dull in the middle and sadly the end was abit too predictable. And that's why I'm just giving horns a 5/10. It's forgettable and I probably won't watch this again. I do like the make up and costume however. The devil look and horns reminded me of Tim curry's devil in Legend but at a smaller scale of course.

Not really worth watching on a weekend. Probably on a weekday if you have nothing else to watch.

Movie review of Fury

Fury - 8/10
Directed by David Ayer
Written by David Ayer
Cast - Brad Pitt, Michael Pena, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal

Plot Summary

April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Out-numbered, out-gunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.

Review
It has really been a long time since I wrote a movie review. Well basically because I was busy with work and all and also there weren't much good movies to watch as well. It has been awhile since I watched a movie in the cinema so when I found out that Fury was out in the nearby cinema, I had to watch it and it was the perfect movie to watch cause it pretty much got my groove back. There are some actors I will always follow and rarely their movies are shit. Brad Pitt is one such actor. I have pretty much watched almost all of his movies except for Terrence Malick's Tree of Life because watching grass grow is more exciting than watching any of Malick's movies. Fuck him.

The colouring for Fury is really consistent and I loved the sound design. you can hear from left to right, the different sounds used which are specific and integral for certain war scenes. Casting I have to say is fantastic. The chemistry between Pitt's character and his men was believable. Script was really good and quote worthy as well. Michael Pena was hilarious. That whole house/breakfast scene was pivotal for the movie because it kinda shows what are each of the men like. You have Pitt as the leader, Lerman as the newbie and being bullied upon. Pena as the comedian. Bernthal as the brute/bully and then you have LaBeouf. I never was a fan of Shia LaBeouf cause half the fuck time in the first three transformer movies, he is either shouting OPTIMUS! or he is mumbling. In Fury however he does tend to mumble his lines abit but his acting was overall decent and he cries alot....practically almost every scene you will see a teardrop.

The war and tank fight sequences were amazing. Really solid editing on that part. And you will get to see a genuine Nazi Tiger tank which is the only fully functioning tank in the world. Like I said the tank fight scene is pretty awesome and keeps you at the edge of your seat.

All in all I have to say Fury is worth watching twice even on the weekends. For the WW2 buffs, you will love it. Enjoy.

Quotes

Wardaddy: Ideals are peaceful. History is violent.

Norman Ellison: Best job I've ever had.

* Possible Spoiler Alert
I'm not too sure if anyone will get this but I kinda feel that Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf's characters are lovers. There are quite a few scenes where I feel there is something going on between the two of them. I could be wrong but that's what my gaydar tells me. Whatever it is, Fury is a fantastic movie to watch.

Movie review of Transformers: Age of extinction

Transformers: Age of extinction - 2/10
Directed by Michael Bay
Written by Ehren Kruger
Cast -  Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz

Plot Summary
A mechanic and his family join the Autobots as they are targeted by a bounty hunter from another world.

Review
This is the fourth transformer movie by Michael Bay. If there is anything that has taught me when watching a Michael bay movie is that you have to throw logic, acting, script and continuity out of the fucking window. Even then also you will end up getting pissed off by a director who likes explosions and loud noises. That's how bad it is.
Casting was quite sad. There's Mark Wahlberg whom I was just starting to like his choices of movies does this garbage which goes back to his Marky mark days. It was bad enough when all Shia Lebouf had to do was shout optimus or bumblebee through out the fucking movie. This time round Marky mark doesn't do much shouting but is a complete douchebag who happens to be an inventor in a barn. HAHAHAHA. I can't make this shit up. And then there's his 17 year old daughter who wears very skimpy shorts. There's even a shot of her ass which is kinda sad. Here's the best part. She has an Irish boyfriend who has an Australian fucking accent and is a rally car driver of sort and they have been having sex and he says its legal in Texas because of a romeo and juliet law which he happens to keep with him. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? Did Bay just made underage sex OK? It's amazing the shit he gets away with. No idea why Stanley Tucci is in this. He was like a Steve Jobs kinda character but worse. And then there are the transformers. The fuck is up with Optimus Prime and the Autobots. half the fuck time they are fighting among each other and then prime is either getting stuck in some shit, dying or pissed at humans. The whole movie he wasn't flying and suddenly at the end of the movie the fucker flies. yup he fucking flies!!! The only good thing about the whole movie is Lockdown, a bounty hunter of sorts. he had a pretty cool entry and all right until his face turns into a fucking cannon that looks like a penis. And then there was Galvatron who turns out to be a complete pussy comes in halfway through the movie and then disappears towards the end. And the script is just plain horrible and cringe worthy. I can't believe all these actors saying some really stupid lines and not feel really dumb saying it. And then there were the Dinobots. Quite possibly the highlight of this movie and they only appear at the end of the movie. They don't talk and Grimlock's name never gets mentioned. Sigh...

Age of Extinction is almost 3 hours long. There are so many unnecessary scenes like the whole fucking Hong Kong scene should have been cut. The ideal time for a Michael bay movie should be 1.5 hours. Anything more than that just makes me want to punch the fucker.
As usual Michael Bay has made another movie filled with explosions and blatant product advertisements. This time round the product placements are so obvious that it makes it seem that there are commercials within the movie itself. And now that piece of shit gave nostrils to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and oh they aren't mutants but aliens.
Fuck you Michael Bay. Seriously Fuck you...
